Prices will not update in Quicken Personal 2005 since upgrading

Question

What can I do to get prices to update once again in Quicken Personal 2005?

Answer

Quicken Personal and Quicken Personal Plus 2005 require the following in order to update prices successfully:

1. Only Accurate, current share codes selected to download
2. Ensure you have followed KB article Q8506 in regards to specifying an exchange and asset class for each share code.
3. You have activated (Registered) the product.
4. You have an active internet connection
5. You have configured your firewalls to allow Quicken permission to access the internet (FTP Access)

What to do for each of the above?

1. To troubleshoot option 1, when you get to the update screen, click on the words 'select quotes to download'. Disable all but one share that you have confirmed is correct. Proceed to update and if this works then it indicates one or more of your shares are innactive or have incorrect codes. Check them all via the asx website and disable to problem share codes

2. Refer to KB Article Q8506

3. Activate Product

4. Ensure you have an active internet connection prior to trying to update prices

5. Refer to the documentation that came with your firewall software. Note that by default windows XP initiates the Windows XP firewall on internet and network connections.
