Cannot import a Web Connect file into QuickBooks Hosted

Legacy KB ID: 3861

Question

Why do I get the error: “Quickbooks could not establish an Internet conncetion. [OL-203]” when I import a web connect file into QuickBooks hosted by Reckon Online?

At other times I import the web connect file without any error message, but when I go to the Online Banking Centre and try to view the bank statement I get the message: “No transactions received for this account during online activity on dd/mm/yyy.”

Answer

This problem is likely to occur if you attempt to import your *.QIF or *.QBO file from your local drive rather than from the QuickBooks Hosted Q:\ drive.

This problem does not happen on every instance and there is no pattern in its occurrence.

Workaround

To copy your *.QBO or *.QIF file from your local drive to your Q:\ drive

1.    Highlight your *.QBO or *QIF file in Windows Explorer

2.    Press Ctrl-C on your keyboard to copy the file

3.    Open QuickBooks Online

4.    Click on File > Open or Restore a Company File > Open a company file (.QBW)

5.    In the Open a Company window, select your Q:\ (or shared folder)

6.    Click your mouse in the white space and press Ctrl-V to paste your *.QBO or *.QIF file

7.    Close the windows.

To clear the “No transactions received for this account during online activity on dd/mm/yyy.” message, you will need to continue with the following steps:

1.    Go to List > Chart of Accounts

2.    Go To View > Re-Sort List

3.    File > Utilities > Rebuild

4.    Go to the Online Banking Centre, highlight the imported file and click on the delete button

5.    Import the web connect file again from the Q:\ drive (or shared folder) location.
