POS 2014 does not appear in Control Panel to uninstall it

Legacy KB ID: 5285

Question

I can’t install POS 2015 because it detects 2014 is still present, but there is no POS 2014 in the Control Panel to uninstall.

Answer

Reinstall 2014 and then uninstall it.

The Issue

There are two reasons you may experience this issue:

1.    Your uninstall of POS 2014 did not remove all files;

2.    Your install of POS 2014 did not complete properly only to the extent of not making entry into Control Panel.

Workaround – Reinstall POS 2014 to uninstall it.

1.    In C:\POS Install 2014, delete the folder: Third Party;

2.    In C:\Temp, delete the folder: Third Party.

3.    Insert the POS installation disk and install;

From a downloaded file, in C:\Temp. click on setup.exe

(dated 10/4/2014 and is 219KB in size)

4.    In the Control Panel you should see the POS 2014 installation.  Right-click and uninstall it.

You should now be able to install POS 2015.

If you have difficulty uninstalling POS 2014, use a 3rd party uninstaller (like Revo Uninstaller) to remove it.  See: https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
