Question

Why do I get the error:

An Authentication error has occurred.  The requested security package does not exist.  Remote computer: RSDFarm.qbi.aust.

when I click on the QuickBooks icon on the new landing page of QuickBooks Hosted (Standard Account)?

Answer

QuickBooks Hosted has recently been upgraded to use the latest version of Microsoft Server 2008 R2 SP1.  This Server provides faster processing times and improved security.

The above error is being experienced by Windows XP users.  If the PC is restarted and you logon again, you get another error:

RemoteApp Disconnected.  The connection has been terminated because an unexpected server authentication certificate was received from the remote computer.  Try connecting again.   If the problem continues contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator.

Before accessing the new QuickBooks Hosted (Standard Account) server, you need to ensure your computer has all utilities to communicate with it by running the Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Check Application.  You must also install a security certificate.

Procedures

Users should ensure their computers are updated with the latest Microsoft Automatic Updates.  Windows XP users should upgrade to Service Pack 3 and have all subsequent Microsoft Automatic Updates installed.

The Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Check application needs Administrator privileges to install.  You can do this by being logged onto your computer with an Administrative account, or, at the relevant installation screen, enter the username and password of an Administrator User account.

Open the QuickBooks Hosted landing page: https://www.reckononline.com.au/login/

In the message section on the QuickBooks Hosted (Standard) line, click on Click here to install to download and install the Download Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Check application.

Follow the prompts to install and run the application:

1.    Save the application to a location on your PC;

2.    Run the application;

3.    Choose Run on the Security warning;

4.    On Specify the certificate installer account, enter Local Administrator credentials and click Next;

5.    Click Finish to close

6.    Restart your computer.

If your PC does not have all the required updates, the Check application will install the required updates after Step 4.  Follow the prompts to install.  At the end you will be informed to restart the PC.  Do not restart at this point.  Tick the box Do not restart now and click Finish.  The Download Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Check application will complete.  Now restart your PC
