The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable while running the RIC

Legacy KB ID: 4239

Question

Why do I get the error: “The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable” when I run the Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility check v2?

Answer

When you receive this error you may also have received an earlier error like: “The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable”.

When v2 installs, it will check for and remove v1.  If v1 was installed by another user than the current user, then v2 will not be able to remove v1 and the Compatibility Check will fail with these errors.

Solution

1.    Log onto your PC with the built-in Administrator account.

Click on this link https://kb.reckon.com.au/issue_view.asp?ID=3623

for full instructions on turning on the built-in administrator on your windows operating system.

2.    Run the Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Check v2.

If Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Check v2 still fails, then:

1.    Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features (XP: Add/Remove Programs) and uninstall Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Check

2.    If Windows cannot remove Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Check, then use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove it.

a.    Click on this link https://kb.reckon.com.au/issue_view.asp?ID=3753 for full instructions on downloading, installing and using the Windows Installer Clean-up Utility.

3.    Run the Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Check v2 again.

If v1 uninstalled through Control Panel and then v2 failed to install again, then use the 3rd party uninstaller to remove remnants of v1 and then run v2 again.

Additional Information

Instead of the Windows Installer Clean-up Utility you can also use a 3rd Party uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller Freeware https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html) to uninstall Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Check
