In Reckon Accounts Hosted navigating/saving file to local hard drives takes a long time using RDweb.

Legacy KB ID: 4090

Question

Why does it take a long time to navigate to a local drive when I try to save a file from Reckon Accounts Hosted on the new Web Server ( RDWeb ), and also a long time to copy?

Answer

Reckon Accounts Hosted has recently been upgraded to use the latest version of Microsoft Server 2008 R2 SP1 and is accessed from the new web address:  https://www.reckononline.com.au/login/

This Server provides faster processing times and improved security.

Standard Service Type Users may find that it takes longer to access Files & Folders on their Local Drives. This file copy performance issue does not affect premium service users.

Our IT Department is investigating the issue.

Workaround

To speed up the process of creating Backups, Exporting IIF’s etc to your Local Drives you can create them on the Q Drive first and then copy them to your Local Drive.

Example:  create a Portable Backup on your Local Drive:

1.    Click File > Save Copy Or Backup > Portable Company File

2.    In the ‘Save As’ Window enter a File Name and Save the File to your Q: Drive

3.    Go back through File > Save Copy Or Backup > Portable Company File

4.    When the Save As Window appears, Right Click on the QBM you just created to highlight it and click CTRL + C on your keyboard to copy it to the Clipboard.

5.    Minimise Reckon Accounts Hosted and using Windows Explorer navigate to the destination folder and press CTRL + V on your keyboard to paste it to your chosen location, this approach (Ctrl C / Ctrl V) will copy the file much faster.

6.    Once the File has copied you can return to your Reckon Accounts Hosted session.

You can also restore backups, import Bank Statements etc. faster by using CTRL + C and CTRL + V to copy them from your Local Drive to the Q: Drive and then access the file from the Q: Drive.

Note: If using this procedure to create a Backup (QBB) or any other File Type which instead of using the ‘Save As’ window uses the ‘Browse For Folder’ window (which shows you a list of Folders but not the contents) you will need to follow the following procedure to copy your file:

1.    File > Open a Company File > click on the dropdown menu for Files of type > select All Files;

2.    Highlight your file in the list;

3.    Click on CTRL + C to copy

4.    In the destination folder on your Local Drive, CTRL + V to paste.
