Runtime error - Unable to create control (system is MODAL)

Question

Why can’t I generate a report in Payroll Premier?  I always get the rror: “Runtime error - Unable to create control (system is MODAL)”.

Answer

Re-upload Payroll Premier onto your network;

OR

Print from a local workstation.

 

The Issue

This problem may be encountered by multi-user installations where the Payroll Premier files are on the network server.

The transfer from local workstation to network server did not complete properly so required files for report generation are not present. 

 

Solution:

1.    Bring back all files from the server location to a local workstation using the Set Network Data Path function;

2.    Delete all files from the server location;

3.    Uninstall Payroll Premier from other workstations;

4.    Transfer files from the local workstation to the network server using the Set Network Data path function;

5.    Test printing of reports;

6.    Install Payroll Premier on other workstations, selecting the Use Data files on a Network Path as the location of the data files.

 

If you still have the problem please contact your IT professional.

 

To print reports you will need to bring back all files from the server location to a local workstation using the Set Network Data Path function.  Print the reports and then transfer files back to the network server.
