Split up of invoices and purchase orders is incorrect after upgrade to QBi

Legacy KB ID: 3739

Question

Why has the tax changed on my invoices and purchase orders after upgrading my company file from QuickBooks 2007/08 to QuickBooks QBi?

Answer

This problem has been encountered on multi-currency versions of QuickBooks.

The original forms – Invoices, Sales Orders and Purchase Orders, will show the total tax amount in Australian dollar terms.  All other numbers on the form are correct.  The print version of the form will show Gross correct but will treat the total tax amount as a foreign currency amount and convert it to Australian dollars at the exchange rate on the form.  It will adjust the net amount to maintain the Gross amount constant.  That is, the net and total tax amounts on the printed form will differ from the net amount on the screen form.

This error effects existing transactions only.  New transactions entered in the QBi series will show correct amounts in the correct currencies at all times.

Tax Reports and the BAS will show the correct amount in Australian Dollar terms for both net and tax.

There is no work around for this error.  New transactions will not encounter this error.
