Payroll Premier 2011/12 does not remember name change to Tax Scale

Legacy KB ID: 4168

Question

When I modify the name and rate of a Tax Scale, why does Payroll Premier continue to show the old name in the Taxation List in the Employee’s record?

Answer

When you change the name and details of a PAYG Tax Scale, the new name displays properly in the PAYG Tax Scale List, but will continue to show the old name in the Taxation tab of the Employee Record when the Pays Flood Levy 2011/12 option is ticked.  However, the details of the PAYG tax scale are the new details.

If Pays Flood Levy 2011/12 is not ticked then the new name will appear.

Our Product Development Team is examining the issue.

Details

Change the name and details of an existing PAYG Pay Scale:

Eg: change Flat 15% to new name Flat 20% and modify the tax detail from 0.1500 to 0.2000.

Go to the Employee Record > Taxation tab, and with the Pays Flood Levy 2011/12 option unticked, see that the new name (Flat 20%) in the Tax Scale list.

Tick the Pays Flood Levy 2011/12 and see the Tax Scale revert to the old name (Flat 15%).

Run a pay for the employee and see that the PAYG tax calculates at the new rate (20%).

Additional Information

If you have a single-user license and are hosting your datafile on a server according to the procedure outlined in KB2600, then you must copy the tax files from the Payroll Premier default directory on the local PC to your network directory to see the updated PAYG Tax Scales in the Employee Record > Taxation tab.
