Cannot delete newly created payroll item in Accounts Business 2014

Question

I have incorrectly created a payroll item.  It has not been used in any way, so why can’t I delete it to start again?  I get the error:  “This is a special payroll item, therefore it cannot be deleted.”

 

Answer

Make this payroll item inactive.

 

The issue

(This is an error in 2014 release for NZ edn only. Newer releases has been fixed.)

Workaround

Make the payroll item Inactive

1.    In the Payroll Item List right click the payroll item;

2.    Select: Make this Payroll Item Inactive.
