Question

Why do I get a script error every time I open the Quicken 2007 Help menu, I am using Internet Explorer version 7.x?

Answer

If you are using Internet Explorer version 7.x and you are experiencing script errors when accessing the help menu do the following:

1. Close Quicken 2007.

2. Download the quicken.dat file from

https://library.reckon.com.au/library/dat/2007/quicken.dat

3. Save the file to your desktop, then rename it to quicken.chm

For Microsoft Windows XP Users:

In Windows Explorer, go to the tools menu and select folder options

Click on the view tab and make sure Show hidden files and folders is selected. Click Ok. Locate the directory C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Quicken\Help

For Microsoft Windows Vista Users:

In Windows Explorer, go to organise and select folder and search options. Click on the view tab. Make sure to show hidden files and folders and have Hide protected operating system files (recommended) unticked. Locate the directory C:\Users\All Users\Intuit\Quicken\Help

4. Copy the quicken.chm from the desktop and paste it in the above directory. Click Yes to replace the file.

5. Right click on quicken.chm and select 'properties’, from the General tab or security tab there will be a prompt to unblock a message. The message will read similar to ‘This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer’.

6. Click ‘unblock’ and re-launch Quicken 2007 then try the Help again. It should be working as normal without errors.
