Windows Installer Package problem when upgrading to QuickBooks Hosted 2011/12.

Question

I am opening QuickBooks Hosted 2011/12 for the first time and I am running the Reckon Infrastructure compatibility Checker when this message comes up:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

What do I need to do?

Answer

This problem can be experienced at the start of the Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Checker utility which indicates that the Windows Installer failed to start. 

 

Workaround

Manually start the windows Installer and run the Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Checker again.

To start the windows Installer:

1.    Click on Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

2.    Highlight the Service called Windows Installer;

3.    click on Start in the top left of the screen;

4.    Close the window.

Now run the Reckon Infrastructure Compatibility Checker again.
