Question

Why do I get this error when I try to login to QuickBooks hosted?

Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer.  A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage.

 

Answer

This problem may be experienced by some Windows XP service pack 3 users with Internet Explorer 8.  It has also been reported by some Firefox web browser users. 

We have not been able to ascertain the reason for this message but users have found the following workaround of benefit.

 

Workaround

1.    Open Internet Explore 8, click on Tools, then Internet Options, then the Advanced tab. 

2.    In the Settings box, browse to the Security section and uncheck the option Enable memory protection to help mitigate online attacks

3.    Click on OK to complete.

4.    Close Internet Explore and relaunch it.

5.    Go to https://online.reckon.com.au and login to QuickBooks Hosted.
