Online setup information is missing in Reckon Accounts Personal, when using Installation switcher

Legacy KB ID: 5604

Question

Why am I getting the message 'Online setup information is missing. Please try reinstalling the application to resolve the issue.' When I try to launch my RAP using the Reckon Installation Switcher? RAP still opens, and I can still use it, after pressing OK to the message.

Answer

The issue happens when the file fidir.txt inside the Banklist folder that your RAP version use gets deleted after installing Quicken 05/06.

Each version of RAP installed using the Reckon Installation Switcher creates a folder where it stores thefidir.txt file. Without this file, the online information setup and the financial institution drop-down list will disappear on the Account Setup window when creating a new account. (see the image below)

To resolve the issue you will have to copy the file across manually. Please follow the below steps.

  1. Close RAP and Reckon Installation Switcher if it is open.
  2. Open the location of fidir.txt file below.
    • C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Quicken\Inet\Common\Localweb\Banklist

FYI: ProgramData is a hidden folder, youmay have to change your folder settings to 'show hidden files'.

     3. Inside the Banklist folder, there’s a file named fidir.txt which is for Quicken 05/06.

NOTE: Without installing Quicken 05/06, each RAP version has its folder that contains each own fidir.txt file inside the Banklist folder. Installing Quicken 05/06 deletes these folders, keeping only the fidir.txt file for Quicken 05/06. If you cannot see the fidir.txt file click here to download the file. Save the file and paste it directly inside the 'Banklist' folder.

4. In the same location, create folders for each version of RAP that you have installed on your computer. Rename the folder using just the year version of your RAP.(e.g. Folder name: '2017' for Reckon Accounts Personal 2017). Create as many folders as needed. (see image below)

5. Copy and paste the 'fidir.txt' file that you have downloaded inside the correct year folder.

6. Open your Reckon Installation Switcher and launch any of the RAP snapshots you have taken. RAP will now open without the message reported, and the Account Setup window now has the financial Institution dropdown list when creating an account.
