Error: There is no application set to open the document when installing the Citrix Plugin for MAC.

Question

I have downloaded the Citrix Plugin for MAC from the Citrix website but when I try to install it I get the error: There is no application set to open the document “”CitrixOnlinePlug-in_web11_2.dmg”attachement”.  What do I do?

Answer

The Citrix Download Manager gives you two methods of downloading the Plug-in:

·         Preferably by clicking on the Download Now button

·         If that fails, by clicking on Download your file manually.

 

When Download File Manually is selected, the MAC file name may not resolve properly and the downloaded file is renamed to the name in the error message.  This outcome is more likely when using the Safari web browser.  MAC then does not recognise the file and does not know which application to use to open it. 

 

Solution

Right click on the "CitrixOnlinePlug-in_web11_2.dmg”attachement”  file and select Get Info and rename the file to CitrixOnlinePlug-in_web11_2.dmg.
When prompted, select to use the .dmg extension and follow the prompts to install the plugin.
