Question

Why do I receive the error 'Setup could not find an installation of Payroll Premier 2006-07' when installing the update?

Answer

Make sure you have Payroll Premier 2006/07 Service Pack 1 installed. To check if you have Service Pack 1 installed, do the following:

1. Open Payroll Premier 2006/07
2. Go to the Help menu and select About
3. The title bar should read: Payroll Premier Version 15 [SP1-061024]

If Service Pack 1 is installed, follow the instructions below:
1. Locate 'Payroll Premier 2006-07' shortcut icon on the desktop.
2. Right-click on the shortcut icon and select Properties.
3. Click on Find Target.
4. In the address bar it should read: C:\Program Files\QPRollV15\QPayroll
5. Highlight: C:\Program Files\QPRollV15 (do not include \QPayroll), right-click and select Copy.

6. From the Windows Start menu, select Run...
7. Type regedit and click OK
8. Locate and click on the Quicken Payroll folder found from My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Quicken Payroll
9. In the window on the right side of the screen, right-click on Location and select Modify
10.Right-click in the Value data field and select Paste.
11.Click OK

Close the Registry Editor window and run the update (Payroll_Premier_2006-07_Update.exe)

If this still fails, you will need to uninstall and reinstall Payroll Premier 2006/07 Service Pack 1.

The Service Pack can be found from: https://www.quicken.com.au/support/updates/QuickPayroll/PayrollPremier2006-07sp1.aspx
