You have entered a different address than the one already in Address Book when adding a new address

Question

Why can’t I add a new customer after upgrading to Quicken 2012?  I get the error:

“You have entered a different address than the one already in Address Book.

Click Update to update the existing address

or

Enter a unique description to distinguish this payee from the existing one and click Add.”

I cannot close the window and have to click on Cancel.  All data saves anyway.

Answer

This problem may be encountered when upgrading files with an address book from Quicken version 8.  It appears to be a minor corruption in the upgrade process. 

We have not been able to reproduce the issue and cannot offer an explanation or a workaround. 

The problem is not critical.  Information is saved and is accessible.

 

Click Cancel and continue.

 

 

Note:  You will experience a similar message when you create an invoice and attempt to change saved information.  Click Cancel and continue.
