Legacy KB ID: 4704

Question

Why can’t I launch the Reward Card Tracker in ReckonAccounts 2013?  I keep getting the message:

An app on your PC needs the following Windows feature:

.Net Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)

What do I need to do?

Answer

You will receive this message if you are running ReckonAccounts 2013 on a PC that does not have .Net Framework 3.5.1 feature turned on.  Some operating systems like Windows 7 and Windows 8 do not turn this feature on.

The Reward Card Tracker does require .Net Framework 2.0 to operate.  Turning on .Net Framework 3.5.1 will also install .Net Framework 2.0.

Workaround

Accept the message’s invitation to install the feature.  Once installed you will be directed to restart your application.

In some instances, the feature will fail to install.  To manually turn on the feature:

Windows 8:

1.    Close ReckonAccounts 2013;

2.    Move your mouse to the bottom left corner of the screen and click Start;

3.    Click on Control Panel > Programs and Features;

4.    Click on Turn Windows features on or off;

5.    Scroll down the window to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and tick the box next to it.  This will also turn on .Net Framework 2.0;

6.    Click the plus sign (+) and ensure all subfolders are ticked;

7.    Click OK to close

Windows 7:

1.    Close ReckonAccounts 2013;

2.    Click on Control Panel > Programs and Features;

3.    Click on Turn Windows features on or off;

4.    Scroll down the window to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and tick the box next to it.  This will also turn on .Net Framework 2.0;

5.    Click the plus sign (+) and ensure all subfolders are ticked;

6.    Click OK to close

You can now install ReckonAccounts 2013.
