Payment Summary title says the previous year rather than the current financial year

Legacy KB ID: 3947

Question

My company ceased trading before the end of December.  When I issue the payment summary and use Custom Date with the To Date the day my company ceased trading, the title of the Payment Summary says “year to 30 June of the previous year” and not the current financial year.

Answer

When using the Custom Date option in producing Payment Summaries, the “year” in the title will pick up on the year of the To Date used.  When that “year” is the year before the end of the financial year, then the title of the Payment Summary is wrong, showing the year before the end of the financial year.

Workaround

In the Dates box you should select This Financial Year.

You could also select Custom Date and enter 1/1/x1 for the To Date

The Period of Payment field will show the termination date of the employee, which should be no later than the date the company ceased trading.

Additional Information

In situations where a company:

1.    is sold early in the financial year;

2.    changes its legal name;

3.    employees are unaffected by the change and maintain their conditions and entitlements; and

4.    the new company ceased trading before January;

you may need to give employees 2 payment summaries, one for each of the legal names used.  You will need to split the information into two files to be able to produce the correct payment summaries and empdupe files.
