Error installing Reckon Accounts Personal Range 2015 - Error 1618

Question

Why does my installation of Reckon Accounts Personal range fail with the error:  “Quicken Failed to Install - Exit Code: 1618”?

Answer

Reboot the PC and try again.

 

The Issue.

This error will occur if another instance of Reckon Accounts Personal (Personal Plus; Home & Business) is still running.  The RAP processor qw.exe is still running and will prevent the installation proceeding.

You cannot install a version of Reckon Accounts Personal while another version is still installed.  The other version must be removed first.

 

Workaround

End the Quicken process:

Either

  1. Task Manager  >Processes

  2. Find the processor qw.exe, highlight it and click on End Process.

Or:

  1. Reboot the PC

 

Check that any other version of Reckon Accounts Personal (or Quicken) has been a removed from the PC.

Control Panel > Programs and Features

Uninstall any other Reckon Accounts Personal (or Quicken) programme

Install your desired version of Reckon Accounts Personal.

 

If you get another problem:  “ The wizard was interrupted before Quicken could be completely installed. Error code 1601”, then a remnant of the previous installation has remained on the PC and must be removed.
