Cannot import a Bank Statement into Quickbooks Hosted 2012/13 as Reckon Accounts Online 2013 opens

Legacy KB ID: 4922

Question

Why can I no longer import a Bank Statement in QIF format into QuickBooks Hosted 2012/13?  Every time I try it fails because Reckon Accounts Online 2013 opens and nothing happens.

Answer

This error occurs because Reckon Accounts Online has been installed on the Hosted servers.  By default Reckon Accounts 2013 is now the default programme to open the QIF file.

Workaround

Users should upgrade to Reckon Accounts Online 2013.

If you do not want to upgrade just yet, continue with the following steps:

1.    Close Reckon Accounts Online 2013.

2.    Launch QuickBooks Hosted 2012/13.  If the Bank Statements window opens, cancel it.

3.    File > Utilities > Import > Web connect Files;

4.    Browse to where you saved your QIF file;

Reckon recommends that you have your QIF file on your Q drive as the process will be faster from this location.

5.    Select the QBO file with the same name as your QIF file and click Open;

6.    Follow the prompts and the Bank Statement will be imported.
