Legacy KB ID: 4103

Question

Why do I get the message that QuickBooks has stopped working.  When I look at the details of the message it identifies the Problem Event Name as BEX and the Fault Module name as MSVCR80.dll.

Answer

You will experience this issue if your Internet Explorer security settings are set too high.

Solution

1.    In Internet Explorer, click on Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet > and drop the security level one notch;

2.    Click on the Privacy tab and lower the security one notch.

3.    Click OK to close.

If the problem persists, repeat the steps above and lower security settings another notch.
